Marco, Alberto, Jacopo, Sara and Emilia participated as main speakers in the conference entitled ‘Community Music Therapy. Experiences of music therapy to support marginalised communities‘, organised by the ‘Bruno Maderna’ Conservatory of Cesena.
The conference was opened by Barbara Zanchi (lecturer in music pedagogy and music therapy) and Maria Teresa Palermo (lecturer in music therapy), who outlined the community approach in music therapy with a speech entitled ‘Community Music Therapy: history, evolution and perspectives in contemporary music therapy‘.
Music & Resilience also participated last year in the conference organised by the Conservatory on the occasion of the European Music Therapy Day; this year we decided to focus our talk on an analysis of the social and humanitarian needs of the Palestinian population in the Lebanese refugee camps, and the relevance of the Community Music (Therapy) approach and psycho-social interventions.
The audience, made up in part of students from the Conservatory and the local music therapy training course, proved to be very participative and interested, with deep questions and a willingness to really try to understand the situation in which the project is moving. We got passionate, amused, indignant together, once again passing the baton of the power of music when it is at the service of the human bonds that can be forged between each of us, whatever the outer circumstances.
