January visit 2019
The Prima Materia M&R team was back in Lebanon for a week in early January 2019, to set the actions for the year: - the final touches were put to the music therapy theses of Liliane Younes and Mohamad Orabi, ready for discussion at the Assisi school of Music Therapy on 10th March 2019, when Assumoud will have 2 qualified music therapists amongst its staff ranks! - community music student volunteers in Beddawi and Saida worked with Henry Brown to structure support for the younger children in the groups. - plans were finalised for multiple training programs to be implemented [...]
M&R contributions to Assumoud’s Mental Health Conference, October 2018
Prima Materia contributed to Assumoud's annual Mental Health Conference with a paper by Deborah Parker on the Musicality of Infant-Parent Communication and a workshop for conference participants on Vocality by Emiliano Nigi. Emiliano also trained Assumoud staff for 2 days on vocal techniques. The Community Music groups in Beddawi and Saida continued working with musical director Henry Brown, in preparation for the 2019 actions, which were discussed in meetings with Assumoud and the project's main sponsor, Taawon Lebanon مؤسسة التعاون - لبنان.

Assumoud Kindergarten teachers in music training with PM, July 2018 In August we received a further, generous donation from our friends in Sherborne (Dorset), UK, through the Cheap Street Methodist Church committee, to help us to continue "Music and Resilience". Music & Resilience 17-18 Annual Report
In 2018 M&R completes its 7th year of continuous support and action for the development of music resources as a protection factor for the young generations of the Palestinian and other refugee communities in Lebanon. The prime actors of the project, Prima Materia and NISCVT, are supported by a large circle of associates, friends, donors, volunteers and sponsors, without which the project could not happen, and to which we express our sincere thanks. Baalbek mission completed!
Our 2 weeks in the Assumoud Centre in Waevel refugee camp are over - many fruitful and enjoyable moments with the staff groups from Assumoud and Inaash association, and with the children ... training, playing, singing, dancing ... the instruments collected in Italy are safely stowed in their cupboard, waiting for the Summer activities to continue... thanks to everyone who contributed to this venture, and also to the carpenter Abu Rabir who mended Chiara's guitar, which will go to the Saida Community Music programme. We’re ready for the next adventure!
Here are just some of the percussion instruments which we have collected, thanks to the generosity of many friends and supporters, which will enable us to establish a new permanent Music Worshop in the Wavel refugee camp in Baalbek (Beqaa valley). We will be in Lebanon form 14th June until 5th July, with a team of 9 teachers, trainers, educators and volunteers from Italy and Germany; together with our colleagues from ‘Beit Atfal Assumoud’ we have planned a rich programme for the children, adolescents and students of the camps in 4 localities: […]

Community Music Spring Workshop 2018
A week of Community Music workshops just ended for the team of Prima Materia in Lebanon, with the support of Taawon – Welfare Organisation.
